Biography

Jill Snyder has been an avid photographer for most of her life.   She began with a Kodak Brownie Starflash camera at the age of 7 and graduated to larger and more sophisticated cameras and techniques over time.  Her most serious efforts began when she experienced a photo safari in East Africa in 2001.  Since that time, Jill has returned to Africa several times for further exploration and photographic adventure. She's moved her lens  from the plains of Africa to Costa Rica, an Alaskan expedition,  U.S. national parks in Florida and Georgia, Zoos, and her own backyard.

Her technique and eye for impromptu images has been recognized by the National Photo Awards (Honorable Mention and Category Winner, May 2006 and Sixth Place Winner in August 2006), Apogee Photo Magazine (First Runner-Up in the May Bi-monthly contest)  Her photograph, "Character" was featured in the National Photo Awards' Some of the Best Photography of 2006.  Jill was a winner in National Geographic Traveler/Photo District News sponsored World in Focus Contest for her photograph "White Thunder" and was published in the February 2007 Issue of Photo District News which may be viewed via the following link. http://www.pdngallery.com/contests/worldinfocus/2007/flash_module.shtml

Accustomed to capturing the spontaneity of nature,  she uses a photojournalistic approach and has been uniquely recording images of performing artists, family gatherings,  weddings, baptisms, birthdays and other special events on a candid basis over the last few years.  Jill believes that  “the unique moments we want to remember are those that are not posed but are literally captured in the making.” 

In addition to her personal work that focuses on distinct images in nature,  Jill works on commercial assignment and photojournalistic assignments of weddings and special events. She sells prints, photo books, and DVDs produced with the most cherished photos of an event coordinated with music, enabling the viewer to re-experience those special moments.
